THE GOODWOOD ESTATE

OUR GROUNDS:

The Goodwood Estate is at the heart of West Sussex and is home to the world famous Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Glorious Goodwood. Goodwood has been the family home of the Dukes of Richmond for over 300 years, and there can be few places as beautiful.

Cricket has been enjoyed by the Dukes of Richmond since at least 1702. The earliest known written laws of cricket were drawn up for a game between the 2nd Duke of Richmond and Mr Broderick of Peper Harow in 1727. Subsequent Dukes of Richmond have been keen cricketers, including the 4th Duke who played to a high standard and lent money to Mr Lord to buy the famous cricket ground subsequently named after him.

In 2017 Goodwood CC and Chichester Priory Park CC formed an alliance to work together, facilitating men's, women's and junior cricket. Over a weekend there can be 6 adult sides playing, along with CPPCC All Stars & Junior sides U8 to U19 during the week.

Over recent years there has been much investment at the club, the square being completely renovated in 2018.  The ground is maintained voluntarily by the GCC and CPPCC club members.

CPPCC is incredibly grateful to The Duke of Richmond and Gordon, The Goodwood Estate and Goodwood CC for being able to play on such a beautiful and historic ground.
