JUNIORS

OUR JUNIOR CRICKET:

Boys & Girls aged 5-18

Chichester Priory Park is a family-friendly, inclusive, and ambitious cricket club who welcome players of all abilities and provide high quality playing and coaching opportunities for both boys and girls.

We have a thriving junior section with 9 teams for ages from U9 to U19, all playing very competitively. On Friday evenings in excess of 100 under 10 (ages 5-9) junior members attend coaching sessions at Goodwood Cricket Club run by our team of qualified coaches lead by our Head Coach Sean Dobbs from Sean Dobbs Coaching.

We are actively recruiting girls for our junior teams right now! We have an amazing team of coaches and a dedicated training night for our women and girls or they are welcome to train in our mixed training sessions at either Goodwood CC or Priory Park.

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS:

PRACTICE TIMES

Junior cricket at the club starts from 5 years old and runs up to age 18.  Club practice evenings run from the end April until the end of August and you can find the dates and times in the age group here. We also offer indoor coaching sessions during the winter months to ensure that all of our young cricketers can play and practice all year round.

Girls are welcome to join our mixed teams, the majority of which are boys or they can join our women’s & girls’ dedicated training night. Girls aged 14 and above are invited to join with our Senior Womens team if they would like to. Find details of girl's cricket training here.

COACHES AND MANAGERS

All of our age group managers, assistant coaches and administrators are volunteers.  We also employ an ECB qualified coach and he attends all practice nights (where possible) to coach the children in the technical aspects of cricket. More information on coaching here.

PLAYING MATCHES

All of our junior players from U9 upwards are encouraged to play matches in junior leagues which run from May-end July/early August.  Some leagues play on weekday evenings and others at weekends. U11-16 play in the Sussex Junior Cricket Festival during August.  The SJCF is a fantastic competition where each age group plays 3-4 matches during one week of the summer holidays. The matches are longer than those played in the leagues and the festival provides a great climax to the children’s summer of cricket.

INDOOR CRICKET

Many of our age groups enter various indoor junior leagues which run through the winter months.  These are a great chance for our young players to continue developing their game, learn new skills and have fun with their mates in the off-season.

EQUIPMENT

The club can provide protective equipment for young players when they first start playing with a hard ball, but you’re encouraged to buy your own pads, gloves, helmet and bat as your child progresses through the club.

Cricket equipment and merchandise can be purchased from Game Set & Match

https://www.gsam.co.uk/. A 10% discount at GSAM is available to club members through a voucher code. We also have an online club shop, which can be accessed via our website, where branded club gear can be purchased. Juniors are encouraged to wear a club cap and shirt when playing in league matches.

MEMBERSHIP & MATCH FEES

Membership subscriptions normally commence in March.  All Membership subs & match fees are collected via Teamo App. You can download the Teamo APP on Google play or Apple store.
