Chichester Priory Park CC - 1st XI 274 / 9 (45.0)   v  Chippingdale 1 XI 306 / 7 (45.0)

CHIPPINGDALE CC WON BY 32 RUNS

Chichester 1XI took the field again this Saturday looking for another back to back streak of wins in the second half of the season, Chichester won the toss and skipper Mike Smith had the boys bowling first on what we later found out was a flat pitch.

Bowling first, Chichester found themselves under some early pressure as both opening batsmen got good starts and began to build an increasingly large total, this wasn’t helped by the below par fielding performance dropping both opening batsman on next to zero runs.

After the long awaited first wicket fell Chichester found their feet and managed to end with 7 crucial wickets. Making the start of the game feel a little less demoralising.

With a big chase to get stuck into Chichester openers Toby Toft and Simon Hasted got the Chichester  off and running taking the first 15 overs for 80 ish and sticking to the run rate required. Toft was first to be dismissed hitting the first ball after the drinks break a full toss straight to a fielder in the deep and took the long all back to the rooms to check Hinge. This brought Lewis Hawes , Chichester number 3 to the crease, with some good running between the wickets made 60 odd in just under the amount of balls. Hasted was then dismissed in the mid 30s after some hard graft up top, going forward the tail had to wag with a few big hits from Johnny Heaven and other contributors, Chichester found themselves with the hard task of 60 from the last 4 overs, despite there best efforts Chippingdale managed to stay calm throughout and closed out the game with around 40 spare.

Chichester travel away to Billingshurst CC next Saturday, where we look to get an important win under the belt as the league becomes closer and games are running out. UTC

Chichester Priory Park CC - 3rd XI 271 / 5 (40) Goring By Sea CC - 2nd XI  210 / All out (38.3)

CHICHESTER PRIORY PARK CC WON BY 61 RUNS

The CPPCC played Goring who made a very strange decision after winning the toss to insert the 3’s when only 6 of their players had arrived and obviously unaware of the M25 like outfield and wicket! Once their team appeared from all corners of the Park we commenced and Groundhog Day ensued… Jes Goode scoring at will, ably supported by Burrows. Another 100+ stand only broken by Burrows once again selflessly avoiding an easy 100 to let others have a go. Jes cruised to another ton, Root-esque in his dominance. The middle order didn’t quite maintain the momentum however a late flourish from Gillett and Goode junior saw a decent score of 271 posted.

Goring started aggressively in the reverse fixture and the same approach was applied, Willem Hodgson opened up with Monty and both were patient with Willem benefitting from some safe hands at mid-off from Burrows to take the first 2 wickets. Some quick thinking from Eliot Goode behind the stumps saw their ‘dasher’ depart stumped whilst holding the pose after a play and miss. 6 downs for less than 100 was a good start. However a dogged partnership tested the patience of the team and some stern words post drinks from the skipper saw increased energy and the final four wickets were taken with the final one coming off the bowling if Hugget in the penultimate over. 3 wins on the bounce sees the 3rd XI nicely positioned mid-table.

CHICHESTER PRIORY PARK CC WON BY 5 WICKETS

Eastergate CC - 3rd XI 111 / All out (24.1) Vs  Chichester Priory Park CC - 4th XI 112 / 5 (19.2)

Chichester 4th eleven headed to Slindon to take on 2nd placed Eastergate and after winning the toss elected to field on a tricky looking wicket.

An excellent opening spell from Toby Buck taking 3 vital wickets put Chichester firmly in control and this was supported by a spin attack of Todd Trundle, Jacob Murphy and Rupert Gillet, the latter also taking a superb catch off Trundle. Ultimately Eastergate were bowled out for just 111.

Chichester’s teenage top four set about the task of running the target down quickly with good contributions from Kieran O Flynn, Teddy Philippo and James Davies and a fine 41 not out from Eli Yambo to complete the victory

The result pushes Chichester into third position with just two games of the season remaining.
