Max Smith Award

“For the Junior player making the transition to senior cricket and inspiring peers with their attitude and willingness to learn, supporting their team and simply their love of the game.”

The inaugural Max Smith Award was presented to Fred Huggett at the end of season dinner and awards at the Harbour Hotel, Chichester.

A fitting award to reflecting Max cricketing experience with Chi and Fred’s current journey as he makes great strides moving from junior cricket through to senior league cricket, demonstrating:

Starting to play regular adult cricket
First class attitude to training – always looking to improve themselves and carry out the task set to best of their abilities.
A zest to learn and develop.
Excellent team member – always happy to put the team first and support their teammates
Loves playing the game and a pleasure to play alongside

The club wanted to remember Max who sadly passed early in the year following a short illness, by creating an award that marked juniors transition to adult cricket, demonstrating the attributes Max showed during his time at the club he so enjoyed.

Fred Huggett has had a fantastic season – well deserved recognition for all his efforts!
