Chippingdale CC 1st XI were edged out by Chichester Priory Park CC 1st XI in an entertaining contest on Saturday 23 May 2026, with Priory Park securing a composed seven-wicket victory after successfully chasing 204.

Batting first, Chippingdale posted a competitive total of 203 all out from 44.3 overs. After a cautious start, the innings gathered momentum through several useful partnerships that kept the scoreboard moving despite regular wickets. The middle order showed resilience against disciplined bowling from Priory Park, while lower-order contributions helped push the total beyond the 200 mark. However, Chichester’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings, preventing Chippingdale from fully capitalising during the closing overs.

In response, Priory Park produced a calm and measured chase, reaching 205/3 in 42.4 overs. The standout performance came from Timmy Wergan, whose superb century anchored the innings and guided the visitors towards victory with authority. Wergan combined patience with controlled aggression, building key partnerships and ensuring the required rate remained firmly under control throughout the chase.

Their top order laid an excellent foundation with intelligent running between the wickets and disciplined shot selection. Once established, Priory Park steadily increased the scoring rate while minimising risks, frustrating the Chippingdale attack and keeping themselves firmly in command during the latter stages.

Chichester Priory Park CC Women’s 1 XI 95-2 (17.5 overs) v Bognor Regis CC 1 XI 94 all out (23.1 overs)

Chichester Priory Park Women’s 1st XI got their season underway in style today against Bognor Regis CC in the first playable fixture of the year.

After losing the toss and being put into the field, Chi faced a strong start from the Bognor openers, who raced to 48 in the first five overs. However, the breakthrough wicket shifted the momentum, with disciplined bowling and sharp fielding slowing the scoring rate considerably.

A standout performance from Chi’s bowler saw an incredible 6 wickets, helping bowl Bognor out for 94.

In reply, Chi’s openers came out positively and quickly built momentum in the chase. Grace Audus top scored with 28, guiding the side towards the target as Chichester calmly chased down the total in the 18th over for the loss of just 2 wickets.

The fielding effort was excellent throughout, with wicketkeeper Ruby Whitley taking 2 catches behind the stumps, while Holly Boarer also contributed 2 catches in a strong all-round display.

A fantastic team performance and the perfect way to start the season.

Chichester Priory Park CC 2XI 225-7 (40 overs) v Bosham CC 1XI 97 all out

Chichester Priory Park CC 2nd XI produced a dominant all-round performance to secure a convincing 128-run victory over Bosham CC 1st XI after posting 225-7 from their 40 overs before bowling the visitors out for just 97.

After Bosham elected to field first, Chichester made a steady start before losing Arran Goode for 8 with the score on 33. Paul Vickers and Matthew Croker then counter-attacked positively, both making 28, with Croker striking at over a run a ball to help keep the scoreboard moving.

Despite slipping to 100-5, Chichester rebuilt superbly thanks to an outstanding unbeaten innings from Ed McCarthy. McCarthy anchored the innings throughout with a composed 62 not out from 73 balls, ensuring the home side always had control during the middle overs.

The momentum swung decisively late in the innings when Jonathan Heaven played an explosive knock of 48 from just 32 deliveries, including five fours and a six. His aggressive partnership with McCarthy transformed the innings and lifted Chichester beyond the 200 mark. Alex Lowther added late impetus with a quickfire unbeaten 7, while Bosham struggled for discipline, conceding 35 extras — including 27 wides — as Chichester closed on an imposing 225-7.

In reply, Chichester’s bowlers took control from the outset and never allowed Bosham to settle. Callum Baily was outstanding with the ball, returning figures of 2-11 from six miserly overs, while Finlay Rustell also claimed 2-15 to put the visitors under immediate pressure.

Matthew Croker capped an excellent all-round display by ripping through the middle order with 3-7 from two overs, while Stanley Mayne chipped in with two wickets of his own. Alex Lowther added another breakthrough as Bosham’s innings unravelled under relentless pressure from the Chichester attack.

Bosham were eventually dismissed for 97 in the 31st over, sealing an emphatic victory and maximum points for Chichester Priory Park CC 2nd XI after a superb team performance with both bat and ball.
