Congratulations to Anna Davies on being recognised by the Sussex Cricket Foundation and awarded the Metro Bank Champion of Girls Cricket at their recent Cricket Collective Awards evening.
Anna is the driving force behind the development of girls' cricket at CPPCC. She has led the charge, promoting girls' cricket, and is a role model to our local community. She champions equal access and advocates for providing the highest quality experience for our girls.
In just a couple of years, CPPCC has gone from a handful of girls in our All Stars program to having over 70 girls playing cricket at the club as a result of Anna's leadership. She established our Dynamos programme, which has provided a pathway into cricket for young girls who have now gone on to form our first cohort of Under 11 & 12 teams, who entered competition for the first time in the club's history in 2024.
Anna has harnessed her passion for girls' cricket and fantastic organisational skills to manage this division of the club. She has organised new grounds, training sessions, matches and even delivered an annual primary school girls' cricket festival and celebratory events during the season. This is in addition to securing parents' support as team managers and running the club's social media coverage for our women and girls section. She does all of this alongside having a young family and work commitments.
Our club aims to have a girls cricket team at every age group and we have no doubt that with Anna's determination, that will be achieved very soon!
