Chichester Priory Park Cricket Club brought the curtain down on another outstanding season with a celebratory awards evening at the Harbour Hotel, recognising achievements across the senior, women's and junior sections following a glorious summer of cricket.
With players, coaches, volunteers and supporters coming together to reflect on a memorable year, there was much to celebrate throughout the club.
The standout achievements saw the First XI secure promotion to Division Two of the Dean Wilson Sussex Cricket League, while the Third XI also enjoyed a successful campaign, earning promotion to Division Six. Across the club, all teams made significant progress, with the Under-13 side crowned winners of their Festival Section to cap an excellent season for the junior pathway.
Chairman Gary Rustell praised the collective effort across the club:
"This season has been a tremendous success from top to bottom. The achievements on the field have been matched by the commitment, enthusiasm and spirit shown by our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters. It is fantastic to see so many players enjoying their cricket across every section of the club, and these successes are a reflection of the hard work put in throughout the year."
The evening's biggest winner was First XI star Timmy Wergan, who collected three major awards after an exceptional season with both bat and ball. Wergan claimed the Frampton Trophy as First XI Player of the Season, the Watson Trophy for Match-Winning Performance and the Dowling Trophy as the club's All-Rounder of the Year.
Junior and Third XI player Elliott Goode also enjoyed a remarkable year. Having scored more than 1,000 runs across all competitions, Elliott played a major role in the Third XI's promotion-winning campaign and was recognised with both the Boss Bowl for Third XI Player of the Season and the prestigious Robin Pine Trophy as Junior of the Year.
The John Davies Trophy for Most Improved Player was awarded to Toby Lewis. The award honours club stalwart John Davies, whose dedication to coaching generations of junior and senior players helped shape the club's success, including the First XI's Premier League title-winning season in 2005. Continuing John's legacy, his daughter Laura and son Steve generously provide a sports voucher each year to support the winner's ongoing development.
Harry Milward, was well deserved winner of the Max Smith Trophy, awarded to an inspirational junior. The award remembers and celebrates Max Smith a junior who sadly passed after a short illness in 2025. Harry, with his tireless enthusiasm for cricket and helping wherever and whenever he can, shows a fabulous commitment to the club and helping others.
The Dyer Quaich for Club Person of the Year was presented to Jon Heaven in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the club throughout the season.
