At our recent AGM James Mayne was made a Club Vice-President in recognition for his exceptional service as Junior Cricket Manager over a period of 12 years for which he continues to look for new ways to develop and grow.
James has organises the coaching sessions, and coaches, arranges matches and extra opportunities for our young members to engage with and develop their cricket, whilst recruiting new volunteer team managers and coaches to support this incredible growth.
It is not just about number growth, but there is a consistent improvement in the standard of coaching provision across the section.
In addition to the work James does at Priory Park, he runs the local Sussex Western Area League to ensure that junior players across the West Sussex get the opportunity to play competitive cricket throughout the year (both indoor - Winter and outdoor - Summer).

Building on the progress and success of the clubs coaching programmes we are pleased to announce Timmy Wergan as our new Assistant Head Coach for the Senior Section.
Timmy is an established first team player who has been playing for Chichester from the age of 8.
He graduated from Durham University earlier this year with a Sport and Exercise Science (BSc).
Timmy is also a Level 2 ECB Core Coach

Result: Chichester Priory Park CC won by 6 wickets; finishing on 173 for 4 (26 overs) chasing 171 all out (39.

Sent into bat, Bognor Regis managed 171 all out in 39.
The reply was swift and convincing.
By winning this match and finishing the season Chichester Priory Park CC have retained their place in Division 5 West for the 2026 season.

Chichester Priory Park CC - 3rd XI 163 / All out (39.
The 3’s welcomed Slinfold to the Park for the final game of the season.
The wicket was a wet one, resembling a late April offering rather than what we have experienced all year.
Slinfold won the toss and duly elected to bowl which was an obvious choice.
Max Cripps joined Stuart Gillett at 17-4 and they worked hard to combat the pitch and tight bowling.
The bowling effort started well against some aggressive batting, not what was needed on the pitch but allowed us to set fields accordingly.
A great end to the season with some real momentum gathered in the second half of the season.

CHICHESTER PRIORY PARK CC WON BY 7 WICKETS

Chichester Priory Park CC 1st XI 223 / 3 (41) v Steyning CC 1st XI 219 / 7 (45)

The Chi boys turned up for the biggest game of the season at Goodwood against Steyning.
With it being a must win to secure a place in the playoffs for promotion and it being a club legend of Martin Ford’s last game anticipation was high.
With steady start from the Steyning openers slowly building a total as they put on 53 for the opening stand.
Then a partnership of 88 came from Steyning number 2 and 3 with the score 153-1 off 32 overs.
Wickets fell often with the pick of them being a direct hit runout by Andrew Crookham as Steyning creeped to 219-7.
Now it was Chichester’s turn to bat with a total of 220 needed off the 45 hours.
Toft wafting outside the off stump #waftytofty.
Lewis Hawes and Simon Hasted built a partnership worth 50 before Hasted had to depart for 26.
Hawes was next to fall for a solid 46 with the score 119 for 3 off 26 overs.
Freddie Gillet joined Sean Dobbs at the crease and after a careful start,

Gillet scored a memorable 35 ball fifty including 3 huge sixes, the pair put on an unbroken 100 run partnership to seal the 30 points and send Chi into the play offs where they will play Little Common Ramblers.
The playoff match will be on Saturday at Glynde & Beddingham CC 12:30 start.

Three Bridges CC 2nd XI 167 / 7 (20) v Chichester Priory Park CC 2nd XI 127 / 8 (20)

Given the season Chichester 2XI have had so far, with numerous highs and lows, it was a great surprise and very welcome distraction from the leagues battles, as they found themselves in the final of the Paul Baker T20 Trophy at Hove on Sunday.
On an overcast day at Hove, Chichester Priory Park took on Three Bridges to bring an end to the Paul Baker T20 trophy.
Three Bridges won the toss and elected to bat, with Milo Price and Richard Webber opening the batting.
Just as Three Bridges had started to settle into a rhythm, James Mayne struck.
However, with Price still at the crease, Three Bridges looked poised to accelerate.
Just as Three Bridges looked to accelerate into the back end of their innings, Mayne struck again, removing Ben Donovan and finishing with figures of 3 -27.
However, between Alfie Pyle and Muhammad Anas, Three Bridges pushed on, although Anas fell to nothing short of an exceptional leg side stumping, with Pyle falling on the last ball coming back for 2.
Three Bridges managed to make 167 from their 20 overs after a strong last over going for 24.
The Chase Started well for Chichester, with McCarthy taking a liking to Pyle early on, going for 17 off the first over - including 3 consecutive fours.
McCarthy and captain Croker looked set, putting on 65 for the first wicket until Croker was dismissed for 27.
McCarthy falling shortly after for a destructive 40, with Hubbard and Greenlees now at the crease.
The next 4 batters all struggled to get going, struggling to keep up with the ever-increasing required rate.
Stan Mayne came to the crease alongside Maiwand, finishing with 15* and 6* respectively.
Three Bridges took the win on this occasion, with Price being named man of the match.
One game left in the league away to Bognor, a win to avoid possible relegation is needed!
Chichester’s Under-11 girls cricket team continued their remarkable season with a strong showing at the regional finals held at North Middlesex Cricket Club.
The young cricketers displayed skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament, securing impressive victories in two of their three matches.
Coach and supporters alike praised the girls for their composure and sportsmanship, noting the team’s growth and camaraderie as key ingredients in their success.
With the ongoing support from Rathbones and CI Optometrist the girls section continues to grow.
These girls were part of a squad of girls who played the the area league games that enabled us to reach this level.
Their journey as Sussex champions and regional finalists is a proud moment for the club—and a promising sign of what’s to come.

Chichester Priory Park continue their promotion push with a comprehensive with a 134-run win at Goodwood against Ansty CC.
Chichester Priory Park 1st XI started their day with a routine domination by the ‘Old’s’ verses the ‘Young’s’ in the pre-match football, which included a spirit lifting Toby Toft tantrum caused by a Sean Dobbs masterclass.
Captain Mike Smith then went and won the toss and elected to bat.
Simon Hasted led the way with a fluent 95 from 95 balls, supported by a blistering 63 off 39 from Toby Toft and a rapid 55 from 37 from Miles O’Grady, as Chi piled on a formidable 333/6 from 45 overs.
In reply, Ansty fought hard through Jarod Van Blerk’s 70 off 41 and Pratik Lilu’s 58 off 47, but the chase never truly threatened.
Andrew Crookham ripped through the order with 5/41, his first 1st XI 5-wicket haul, backed by Miles O’Grady’s 3/39 and Finlay Rustell and Stanley Mayne who both claimed their maiden 1st XI wicket.
Ansty were bowled out for 199 in 27.
A comprehensive team performance sees Chichester continue their strong form as they go into the last 2 matches of the season.
Next Saturday Chi travel to Middleton for the penultimate league match.

Aldwick 3rd XI 147 / All out (25.
Chichester won away to Aldwick by 123 runs to finish the season in second place.
The game also fittingly marked the last outing as captain for previous club chairman Tim Gregory who has been a instrumental in helping to encourage young players into league cricket.
Another fine season showing the progress the club is making in that area

On a glorious sunny Saturday afternoon Chichester 4th eleven headed to Birdham to face Aldwick for the last game of the season with Priory Park needing a win to have any chance of finishing runners up.
Having won the toss and elected to bat Chichester got off to a fine start as Rupert Gillett and Teddy Philippo pushed the score along strongly until both were dismissed just shy of their half century.
Momentum was then lost and a clutch of wickets fell leaving Chichester in a potentially awkward situation.
Oscar Dutton finished with a career high 71 and Todd Trundle 39 not out.
In reply Aldwick began brightly in the first five overs after which the seamers were replaced by an all spin attack for the remainder of the Innings.
Robinson ultimately was dismissed by a brilliant low catch by keeper Rupert Gillett off the bowling of Oscar Clifford Brown who claimed two vital late wickets Alex Darby, Todd Trundle and Musawer Kashifi took all 8 other wickets between them and Aldwick were dismissed for 147.
Subsequent news that Bognor had lost to Arundel meant that the Chi 4th eleven finished runners up in what has been an excellent season.

Chichester Women’s softball team win the SCF Women’s Soft Ball Final cricket League – Final 2025

Beating Crowhurst Park CC by 41 runs in a high scoring final.
Chichester Women’s softball team took on Southwater in the SCF softball semi-finals.
We batted first setting a total of 342 with some incredible boundaries from Holly Boarer, Grace Audis and Jess Kayworth.
The bowling and fielding was strong with some incredible catches from Mel Beaumont and Lara Almashta who both took 2 each supported by the rest of the team.
Chichester batted first again and set a total of 306 with some more incredible boundaries from Holly Boarer, Grace Audus, Jess Kayworth and Angie Vashwatie.
Catches throughout the second innings meant that Angie Vashwatie took 5 wickets with catches from Phoebe, Grace and Jess.
The whole team supported each other and played strong to defend the score.
An amazing win for Chichester Priory Park CC!

Billingshurst CC - 1st XI 184 / All out (40.
Chichester Priory Park continued their impressive push for promotion with a hard-fought two-wicket victory over Billingshurst at the Jubilee Fields Oval.
Billingshurst won the toss and elected to bat, but soon found themselves reeling at 12 for 2 in the sixth over.
The home side regrouped through strong partnerships as Paul Osborne, Andy Barr and Isaac Thorneley steadied the ship and pushed the score towards 120 for 3.
Rob Woodman offered resistance with a patient 26 not out, marshalling the tail, but the away side’s attack proved too disciplined.
Chichester’s reply got off to a shaky start.
At this point, Lewis Hawes held the innings together with a commendable knock of 62.
That dismissal brought Jonny Heaven to the crease.
With the finish line in sight, Ford and Scott, already influential with the ball, combined to see Chichester home.
Chichester’s promotion hopes remain firmly on track, and attention now turns to their next fixture: a home clash against Ansty on Saturday 23rd August at Goodwood – come along and support the team.

Chichester Priory Park 2nd XI recorded an emphatic victory at Goodwood on Saturday, overcoming West Wittering 1st XI by 122 runs in a match that showcased their strength with both bat and ball.
Having been asked to bat first, Chichester’s innings was given early impetus by Arran Goode, who struck a fluent 45 from just 37 deliveries, peppering the boundary with ten fours.
Ben Hubbard added further substance with a composed knock of 48 from 60 balls, working the gaps smartly and punishing anything loose, while Ed McCarthy’s lively 38 from 42 balls offered valuable acceleration in the middle order.
Faced with such a daunting target, West Wittering’s reply faltered almost immediately.
Symington was the chief destroyer with the ball, making vital breakthroughs at both ends of the innings.
This 122-run triumph underlined the balance and depth within Chichester Priory Park’s 2nd XI, with contributions coming from across the team.

Brighton & Hove CC - 4th XI 247 / 6 (40.
Brighton & Hove CC win by 4 runs

Chichester 3XI miss out by 4 runs, after supper chase to overturn the home sides 247.
Chi 3's visited Brighton Cc 4th XI on a warm day at the Nevill Sports Ground and having won the toss the home team had no hesitation in batting first on a good-looking pitch.
Opening bowlers Guy Montgomery and Willem Hodgson started well and It was Hodgson who struck first down the hill to remove the Brighton opener cheaply.
In reply Jes Goode and Fred Huggett opened the innings for Chi and were soon 1 down with Jes Goode back in the pavilion, the early wicket and some accurate bowling made fluency difficult and whilst Ewan Edwards and Huggett steadied the ship, the scoreboard pressure you could sense was telling on the batters, Huggett was bowled and Safi Khan soon followed, this brought the experience Stuart Gillett to the crease - it was this experience partnered with the youthful Edwards where things started to change, both batters rotated the strike with Gillett punishing anything short of offline, the pair added 80 before Edwards was undone down the hill by a decent delivery, for a well well-earned 62, This brought Elliot Goode to partner Gillett and these pair continued to run aggressively and pressure fielders on a difficult outfield, Gillett continued the manage the partnership , and despite some tight bowling arrived requiring 12 to win from the last over, the first 4 balls yielded 6 runs, before Gillett was caught right on the Long Off Boundary on the penultimate ball for a superbly crafted 101, a six from the last ball was too much this time and Chi finished 4 runs short on 244.
A great game of cricket and whilst disappointing not to get over the over, great to see a batting masterclass from Stuart Gillett, we go again next week knowing that increased intensity over 80 overs is often the difference when things get tight.
Rupert and Nelly were on the role of scoring and despite a bit of chaos from the pair they managed to get it sorted and did very well.
Home on Saturday to Broadbridge Heath in Priory Park, 1pm start.

CHICHESTER PRIORY PARK CC WON BY 6 WICKETS

Chichester Priory Park CC - 4th XI 102 / 4 (18.
On an unexpectedly cloudy Saturday afternoon Pagham won the toss and elected to bat.
This was a decision they may have regretted after just one delivery as keeper Ollie Ford snapped up a catch off Jamie Edwards bowling.
Edwards bowled two excellent spells ending up with four wickets and was superbly assisted by both Oscar Dutton and Toby Lewis who also affected a run out to take the final Pagham wicket.
A total of 100 always looked short of being enough to seriously challenge Chichester 4th eleven’s deep batting line up and so it proved.
Retiring captain Tim Gregory was delighted with the win as was Paul Walker who is returning to his home county of Yorkshire for next season.
Final game away at Keepers Green against Aldwick CC 1pm start.
